The fascinating violin model of the classical Italian master Giovanni Paolo Maggini has been copied by many violin makers in recent decades because of the beauty of the double purfling and the double winding in the scroll. This German "Maggini" violin is a beautiful example of this; the beautiful f-holes are cut in a slanted position, the scroll is finely cut. The deep flame in the maple back is also beautiful. The sound is appropriate for the Maggini model; a large, warm, full of character with many overtones. The violin has some light traces of use in the varnish, but is otherwise in excellent condition.
