This old German violin is a quality instrument that was made in the early 1900s on behalf of the renowned company Meinel & Herold in Klingenthal, Saxony, founded in 1893. The quality of the violin is reflected both in the wood used - very balanced flamed spruce for the top and regular, deeply flamed maple for the back - as to the fine style in which it is made. See the sharp purfling, neatly cut scroll and beautiful transparent yellow-brown varnish. The violin plays very easily and has an open, radiant sound that carries well.
