German violin with slab cut back
German violin with slab cut back
Interesting German violin with its own appearance and character. Although the maker is unknown, several details show that the violin was made with great craftsmanship and personality. The model - slightly different from the usual pattern - is elegant and round. The scroll, particularly sharply cut, testifies to an experienced hand. The choice of tone wood also makes the violin special; the top has a remarkably wide, even grain. The back, which is made of one part, is slab cut with a very intriguing flame. This is further accentuated by the beautiful brown-gold oil varnish on a yellow background. Equipped with a new bridge, the violin has a clear and open sound with sweet undertones that provide many possibilities for interpretation (see the sound clip below).
