Striking German violin
Striking German violin
The violin
The violin maker who built this violin did this in his own style, slightly different from the common German and French models. The violin thus has its own and characteristic appearance. Various details show that the violin was individually built with great attention: accurate inlays that are nicely wide, a finely carved curl, elegant F-holes and a strikingly deep curve (hollow) of the top at the height of the inlay ( whistling). The wood used is of good quality with a very fine grain in the top and a mild, balanced flaming in the back. The sound of the violin is special for this price range; bright with a large tone and mature character (sound clip below). In the violin is a label of Carl Bernhard, 1929, Stadthagen with No. 945. Because it is unlikely that this violin maker built so many violins, we assume that it is a copy.
