Stylish Dutch violin built by Otto de Kleijn. Although little is known about this violin maker, this example shows that he had a good feeling for violin making with an eye for detail. Otto de Kleijn used a horizontal model with an elegant shape and a relatively long upper body for this violin. The characterful scroll is particularly finely cut. The tasteful golden brown oil varnish emphasizes the quality of the wood in particular the deep flame in the maple back. The sound of this violin has our special recommendation; a rich and resonant sound with particular warmth in the lower registers (sound clip below).
