Mittenwald, Fachschule fur Geigenbau
For more than 150 years, new violin makers have been trained at the violin making school in Mittenwald. The internationally highly regarded training has already produced many masters. This beautiful, red-brown violin, with its careful construction and pronounced sound, is almost like a masterpiece. The violin is the work of a gifted student, who built the instrument in 1929. The craftsmanship is evident in the stylish curl, the precisely cut F-holes and the sharp inlays. The rich, bright red oil lacquer is in keeping with tradition. The violin has the well-known fir tree logo with the label number 1090 below it. As a rule, students of the program are only allowed to keep their first or last instrument. The other violins are from the training. These violins are labeled by the Fachschule fur Geigenbau. The violin making school can use the number on the label to find out who built the violin. The violin that is in perfect condition has a powerful, clear and open tone with dark colors in the low tones (sound clip below).
