- Sold- Very old Viola, 18th century
Very old Viola, probably built at the end of the 18th century. The viola has, not surprisingly for its age, had various repairs. Among other things, a stacking crack in the back cover has been very professionally repaired with a so-called 'patch'. The neck and curl are probably not original, but of a later date. The violin has an authentic, lived-in appearance. The quality of the beautiful gold-yellow-brown oil lacquer, which shows a nice patina in several places, and the quality of the wood - irregular spruce and an intriguing flamed back - show that this is a quality viola. The length of the alto is 69 cm with a corpus length of 41.5 cm. The viola has a "set-up" by the famous violin maker Fred Lindeman. The viola has a compelling, matured sound that is warm and round and full of character (see sound clip below). The many, but well and professionally executed repairs are included in the price.
