Powerful and mature sounding old violin presumably built in Mittenwald. The thin, deep red oil lacquer with many traces of use from intensive playing is typical for old violins from Mittenwald. The wood used is of excellent quality; medium grain spruce for the top and fine mild flamed maple for the mirrored back. The radiant, mature sound is rich in overtones and very resonant with a warm character (sound clip below).
