Beautiful German violin built in the early 1900s after the Amati model. The style of Amati is reflected in the relatively high curvature of the blades and the vertically positioned F-holes. The wood used is of high quality; very finely grained spruce for the top and a one-piece piece of deeply flamed maple for the back. The flaming in the back and the wreath is beautifully expressed in the transparent orange-brown lacquer. The violin is expertly built, as can be seen by the sharp inlays that are inlaid close to the edge and the finely carved scroll. The sound of the violin is clear, balanced with many overtones in the low registers (sound clip below).
