Excellent 20th century Hopf violin, probably built in one of the workshops in Klingenthal. The violin is stamped with Hopf on the back. Characteristic of the Hopf model are the typical broad shoulders, where the arching of the top is relatively flat. This is also beautifully reflected in this violin. The wood used - balanced grained spruce and mildly flamed maple - is of good quality. The beautiful deep red-brown varnish and the solid construction - reflected in the finely cut scroll and sharp purfling - give the violin an attractive appearance. The sound has character; powerful, mature, colorful with clarity in the higher tones.
