Milan Oubrecht was born in Mlada Boleslav (November 19, 1950). From 1977 to 1990 he taught at the violin making school in Luby. Oubrecht's influence is evident in the work of almost all contemporary Czech bow makers. In 1987 Oubrecht became a member of the “Circle of artist in Violinmaking”. Since 1991 he only makes master bows in his workshop in Luby, where he also lives.
Oubrecht bows are used by soloists such as Gabriela Demeterová (violin) and Jan Pěruška (viola) and top string quartets such as the Panocha and Janáček quartet. You will also find Oubrecht's bows in all top Czech and Slovak orchestras, including the Czech and Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra and in orchestras all over the world. In 1997 Yehudi Menuhin performed with an Oubrecht bow in Switzerland. Oubrecht has exhibited his straw sticks in Cremona, Mittenwald, Frankfurt am Main, Valencia and Prague. He is one of the most famous Czech personalities at the turn of the millennium in “Who is Who”. Milan Oubrecht makes his bows according to his own design. His bows are appreciated for their elegant design and excellent playing characteristics.
